    • Burtis (Bertie) H. Van Vlack, b. Sept. 23, 1866 at Gasconade, MO, d. either at Gasconade, MO or Versailles, NY, Sept. 11, 1868, bd. Versailles Cemetery, Cattaraugus Co., NY. (Ref. The bud that withered here
      now blossoms in the skies

George had received a land grant from the U.S. government because of his military service during the Civil War. The land grant was for property in Gasconade, MO. Hence the reason for the family being in that area. It is not known if Burtis died in Gasconade, MO and was brought back to Versailles, NY for burial or if they had relocated to Cattaraugus County prior to his death.
