Notes - Mary Van Vleckeren, b. May 3, 17822. Dutchess Co., NY (other sources say April 29, 1791), bpt. Jan. 15, 1792 in RDC, Fishkill, Dutchess, Co., NY, d. Hallowell Twp., PE Co., Ontario. In Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte, it is stated that Henry Van Vlack had a sister Mary who m. Obadiah Cooper. He m. as his 1st wife Sarah Pyer. Obdiah was b. Dutchess Co., NY, moved to Kingston, NY 1802 and to Hallowell Twp. PE Co., Ontario. Obadiah is said to have had 7 children but it is not known if any were from second wife Mary. Mary and Obadiah settled in Hallowell, Prince Edward Co., Ontario. Before they left Dutchess Co., Obadiah Cooper, as a Tory, was forced to sell one firelock to the Com. of Observation in Fishkill about Aug. 18, 1775, for the use of the Continental Army; he received for it L (pound)1.12.0 (A.V.W. Brinckerhoff: Hist. Sketch and Dir. of Fishkill, 1866, p. 80).
