    • George Oliver Van Vleck, b. in Glenville, Schenectady Co., NY May 30, 1844; d. June 1, 1898 at Marshalltown, IA; m. Sept. 19, 1868, Evalyn ("Eva") P. Chapin, she b. Sept. 1848, and d. in New Orleans, LA., March 23, 1940. As a young man he taught school in winter and farmed in the summer. From 1876-1884 he was town clerk, from 1884-1888, county auditor for Butler Co., IA, and from 1888 until his death he was engaged in the lumber and real-estate business. He lived in Marshalltown, IA. Children:
