Notes - Aron Van Vleckeren, b. Bloemendal, NY, bpt. Nov. 30, 1720 RDC, NYC, NY, d. after 1779 in Gayhead, East Fishkill, NY. On March 16, 1746, he m. Catherina (Catherine) Brinckerhoff, a dau. of Dirck Brinckerhoff; in the rec. she is given as b. in Fishkill and he as b. in Bloemendal (RDC, Fishkill Rec.). It has been said that Aron was the first settler of Gayhead (East Fishkill) and bought 600 acres of land from Madame Brett when the county was a wilderness (P.H. Smith: History of Dutchess County New York, 1877, p. 183 and Local Tales & Historical Sketches by Henry D.B. Bailey, 1874, pg. 334). He built a log house on his property. He may be the Aaron Van Vlack listed in the 1790 Census as having a family of 1 male over 16 yrs. of age, 1 female over 16, and 3 slaves. Dora DuRocher's info' lists him as being one of the builders of the Hopewell Dutch Reformed Church in Hopewell, NY. Aaron was interred in a burying ground on his farm, east of the log house that he built. This was the first burying ground in East Fishkill (ibid. pg. 336). Aron is probably the "Aaron Van Vlackaran" listed as being an enlisted man in the Dutchess County Militia (Land Bounty Rights) - Roberts: New York in the Revolution, 2nd Edition, pg. 241. Probably the Aaron (Arie) Van Vleckery listed in the Dutchess County, NY Tax Lists 1743-1748, 1753-1763, 1765-1775, 1777-1779. If so, was still alive as of 1779. Children:
