- She was born in Washington, D.C. on January 5, 1951, daughter of Fred B. Zoll and Marjorie Phelps Force Zoll, originally from Montclair, N. J., Fred was a V.P. of Libby-Owens Ford Glass Company and their lobbyist in Washington, D.C. for 39 years. Marjorie?s father was a personal friend and long time golf partner of Congressman, later U. S. President, Jerry Ford, who was invited to Marjorie?s wedding. Ford?s gift was a crystal bowl engraved with the Presidential Seal.
Marjorie attended Rollins College, Winter Haven, Fla. 1969-71 and then Dickinson College (where she met Charles) B.A. in English Literature. As a child she swam competitively, rode horseback, painted, played basketball, field hockey and soccer. In high school she organized and was president of the McLean Teen-Age Republican Club, was a member of the Spanish Club, on the Honor Roll, and on the news staff. After college she worked as a legal secretary and after marriage she worked for Control Data Corp. holding the position of Supervisor of National Communications at their Harrisburg office, resigning when son Chris was born. Her adult activities included gardening, fishing, golf, needlework and cooking.
